A motorcaravan arrived on a site in Spain. They sited their vehicle and plugged in to the mains. They then went across to an adjoining pitch for a drink with their friends. After about 10 minutes, someone said "You have steam coming from the roof vent, have you left a kettle on?"

If you leave the cable coiled it can cause a fire, as in coil formation it acts like an electric fire and gets hot. This also causes extra drain on the your consumption and can cause the circuit breaker on your pitch to "drop out" quicker.

Apart from the danger of branches from trees breaking off and falling the other problem can be rain collecting in large drops which fall and cause annoyance plus bird droppings where birds have perched above you. I had the experience of large birds feasting on elderberries sitting on overhead cables above my motorcaravan and awning and them "bombing" us with large dollops of black excreta. It was very difficult to remove.
